Interactive 3D from Visio

Visi3D is an add-in for Microsoft Visio® that lets users layout 2D spaces in Visio drawings, bring them into an interactive 3D game-like environment and then publish the 3D worlds online for everyone or a selected audience to experience.

Why a Video Game for 3D Creation, Publication, and Distribution?

We created Sfirz (phonetic spelling of Spheres), our XNA Platform Racer Game, to demonstrate the power of a Visio-based layout tool used to produce distributable 3D worlds. Designers upload games created in Visio to our servers for others to download and play using our free viewer. Players can then upload their scores for posting to a leader board. The Sfirz Designer and Sfirz Viewer are available at no charge from www.sfirz.com.

Beginning in March 2009, we will be releasing 3D modules that work with standard Visio stencils for Rack Diagrams, Data Centers, Office, Home, and Plant layouts. Additionally, we have developed 3D experiences for solutions from Visio partners for Facility Management and Swimming Pool Construction that you can access from links on the right.

3D Value-Added for Visio

3D provides value added visualizations of Visio drawings not just for physical spaces and shapes but also for conceptual and process drawings that can be used to communicate as never before. Users walk or fly around a scaled model of the Visio drawings and they explore in a 3D virtual video-game.

The program is easy to use and can be customized with different 3D worlds to recreate any space: be it fixed spaces like Retail Stores, Offices, Concert Halls and Auditoriums or movable like Merchandizing Rooms, Trade Shows and Exhibitions. Our modular system allows users to install free 3D Viewers for only the Visio templates they use and that makes it easy for us to provide custom extensions for our partners.
